The Marine Corps certifies the instructors for the MCJROTC program as ‘Highly Qualified’ after close screening to ensure they are physically, mentally and morally qualified prior to being recommended to the Bay County School District to administer the program.
Senior Marine Instructor (SMI)
Master Sergeant (Ret) Ken Hicks
Master Sergeant Kenneth Hicks enlisted in 1981 as a communicator. He has served as a Marine Security Force Platoon Commander , a Marine Recruiter and Recruiting Station Panama City Florida NCOIC. a Rappel Master (HRST - Helicopter Rope Suspension Trainer), Water Safety Survival Instructor (WSSI), Marksmanship Instructor, and Weapons Training Range Master Safety Officer. MSgt Hicks has been a JROTC Instructor since his retirement in 2004.
Marine Instructor (MI)
Master Sergeant (Ret) Beth Piccolo
Master Sergeant Beth Piccolo enlisted in 1981 as an ordnance man and was the first female Marine in that field. In addition to her ordnance duties, she has served as a Public Affairs Officer, Family Readiness Officer, Equal Opportunity Officer, Toys for Tots Coordinator and USO Marine Liaison. Master Sergeant Piccolo retired after completing twenty-six years of service. MSgt Piccolo was awarded Bay District Schools Teacher of the 2014-15 school year. She also received the Governor’s Shine Award for 2015 and Macy’s Magic of Leadership award for 2016. MSgt Piccolo is the unit's Close Order Drill and Color Guard Coach.
